On April 27, we said good-bye to a dear friend and brother, Val Dodd. Val, and his wife, Brenda, have been an integral part of Partners in Harvest since its beginning in 1996. They founded and built Burloak Christian Fellowship and Val was on the Canadian Board of PIH for many years. Val and Brenda served as the Regional Coordinators of Ontario for the past few years until Val had to step down to focus on his health and healing.
Val worked as the chef for 100 Huntley Street back in the late 70’s and then became their staff chaplain throughout his 14 years with them. He was also very active with Watchman for the Nations.
From the beginning of Val’s diagnosis with cancer, he was full of faith, believing for his healing. He fought the battle with the strength of the Lord and the unfailing support of friends and family. He sought out spiritual and natural cures and trusted in the Lord for his miracle. He prayed with the doctors before his surgeries and I know he was a source of courage and inspiration to many.
Val, you will be missed more than you know. You were an incredible Father and friend to many. We take comfort in the words of John 14:2 “Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.”
